The Energy Consultants Association

Chris Shaw, CEO, of Utility Bidder has established the Energy Consultants Association in conjunction with PreAction, Fidelity Energy, and Hipperson Consulting to improve awareness of the energy consulting industry.

The ECA was introduced as a not-for-profit organisation to address the needs and support the business energy consultant industry. The ECA has already attended the RECCo broker workshop, engaged with the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero Strategy, engaged with Members of Parliament on broker issues and publicly responded to negative press articles defending the broker community.

The ECA recently held a workshop in Manchester to provide a unique opportunity to meet and network with like-minded energy industry professionals. At this workshop, Chris Shaw presented to 30 delegates from more than 20 difference brokerages and consultancies. Together, the ECA aims to build a strong unified trade body that shapes the future of the industry to ensure growth and success.

There are 6 key areas of focus to achieve the ECA vision, these include improving awareness of the energy consulting industry, improving regulatory and legislative engagement, providing support and clarity of legal matters, energy supplier engagement, networking and training and development.

Currently, there are no impactful organisations representing the views of energy consultants. No voice for energy consultants, rising levels of fraud with no way of gathering and sharing information and no reliable data on the size of the energy market.

The ECA want to cooperatively deal with market threats, create a formal networking area, promote the benefits of the Energy Consultant industry, collectively share best practice and data, and highlight reputable energy consultants.
