In 1997, HTC was founded in Taiwan and since then has developed to become a leading provider of PCs and smartphones. It boasts numerous industry firsts thanks to its innovative engineering breakthroughs and its smartphones have also won several awards.

HTC Europe is headquartered in Slough from where around 60 staff provide mobile phones and virtual reality technology to a wide European customer base. Hayri Alpan is the Facilities Manager and has been responsible for the 20-year-old building for around eight years.

HTC faced high bills

Several years ago, his procurement colleagues engaged a competitor to look after HTC Europe’s gas and energy. However, this company like many other energy brokers went into administration, leaving HTC in the lurch. Hayri said: “The service provided by the original company was not great – and so, it’s no surprise they didn’t last. We were not even aware they had gone out of business as there was no communication from them at all.”
