In 1997, HTC was founded in Taiwan and since then has developed to become a leading provider of PCs and smart phones. It boasts numerous industry firsts thanks to its innovative engineering breakthroughs and its smart phones have also won several awards.
HTC Europe is headquartered in Slough from where around 60 staff provide mobile phones and virtual reality technology to a wide European customer base. Hayri Alpan is the Facilities Manager and has been responsible for the 20-year old building for around eight years.
HTC faced high bills
Several years ago, his procurement colleagues engaged a competitor to look after HTC Europe’s gas and energy. However, this company like many other energy brokers went into administration, leaving HTC in the lurch. Hayri said: “The service provided by the original company was not great – and so, it’s no surprise they didn’t last. We were not even aware they had gone out of business as there was no communication from them at all.”
However, their demise left HTC facing high energy bills because their fixed rate plan had ended and they had automatically rolled over into an expensive standard plan. HTC needed help fast and Utility Bidder was recommended to Hayri as a business he could trust.
