Utility Bidder work with a great range of businesses up and down the country. We always encourage our clients to save energy – not just because it saves money, but also because it has major environmental benefits. When we work together, we can make a real difference.
Here are some great ways on how to reduce your consumption:
There is a proven direct relationship between the energy we consume and air pollution. We all need to do as much as we can to help reduce pollution and we’ve got a few suggestions that will make a difference:
Go PC-Free
Did you know that laptops consume 90% less energy than PCs? Most businesses rely on computers and so switching from PCs to laptops can make a world of difference. Also, most employees leave a PC on standby mode when they are not at their desk, yet our research shows that leaving just one PC on standby mode overnight costs around £36.50 every year.
Lighting Adjustments
A quick win is to swap your old incandescent bulbs for newer CFLs or LEDs which consume less energy and are equally as bright. This could see serious annual savings from several hundred to several thousand pounds depending on the size of your business. Also, consider fitting motion sensor lighting in areas such as toilets and stock rooms where lights may be accidentally left on when they are not needed.
Heating options
Heating can often cause arguments on who’s too hot and who’s too cold. You could put an end to these disputes by installing timers and programmed thermostats to help regulate the temperature of your office.
Let’s be honest, reducing business energy usage is great. However, an additional bonus is the positive environmental changes it makes and helps toward saving the planet.
