After a period of major investment and growth, third-party intermediary (TPI) Utility Bidder has been shortlisted in the ‘One to Watch’ category of the 2019 European Business Awards,
one of the world’s largest and longest running cross-border and cross-sector awards.
Founded in 2009, and headquartered in Corby, the business employs over 120 staff and has a growing sales office in Manchester. The company currently brokers energy and other utilities contracts to over 14,500 SME clients across a number of industry sectors in the UK. Earlier this year, a management buy-out from Sovereign Capital Partners saw significant investment in the company allowing it to pursue and develop its ambitious growth strategy.
Chris Shaw, Utility Bidder CEO said: “The company has already enjoyed tremendous success in the UK and established itself as a Top Ten TPI in a relatively short space of time.
“The partnership with Sovereign is allowing us to continue to invest in training our award-winning staff, to maintain and enhance our unrivaled reputation for customer service and, of course, continue to save money on gas and electricity for our thousands of customers.”
Although Utility Bidder has been nominated for and won, several UK industries awards this is the first time it has been selected for an award outside the country. The European Business Awards are unique in engaging with over 110,000 companies from 33 countries bringing compatible organisations together to provide diverse industries the chance to do business, learn, share and solve major challenges.
Adrian Tripp, CEO of the European Business Awards, said: “The companies chosen as ‘Ones to Watch’ are the most inspirational, successful and dynamic in Europe.”
He continued: “The talent and tenacity at the heart of these businesses creates jobs and drives Europe’s prosperity. This ‘Ones to Watch’ list of excellences is a benchmark of success for the rest of the European business community.”
Utility Bidder now has the chance to compete in one of the 18 categories of this year’s European Business Awards to become a National Winner in the UK. If successful, they will then take part in the Gala Final in December 2019, where the final 18 European winners will be announced.
Chris Shaw adds: “We are really thrilled to have the Utility Bidder brand recognised in Europe for the first time. It will be very exciting to move forward to the next stage where we can meet other companies and share good practice with our European colleagues.”
